This September 28th & 29th CELT (Centre for Environmental Living and Training) will be hosting our weekend of traditional and ecological skills training at the beautiful Slieve Aughty Centre, Kylebrack, Loughrea, Co.Galway.
Since 2002 Celt has been successfully hosting this annual weekend event, providing a platform to educate people on the importance of maintaining Irish traditional skills and ecology.
Hundreds of people have attended and found it an inspiring experience to re-connect with our heritage and leave with a new or improved skill.
Over the two days participants will receive extensive education in the area of their choice with practical hands on training and one to one tuition with professional tutors.
Attendees can choose one of these fantastic courses:
Adult courses:
Basketry, Blacksmithing, Copper-smithing Dry-stone & Lime Mortar Walling, Herb-lore, Knife Making, Longbow Making , Natural Building. Needle-Felting, Silver-smithing, Spinning and Weaving including Natural Dyeing, Sugan Chair Making. Wet Felting, Woodcarving. Wooden Bowl & Spoon carving.
For children 8 – 14 years old:
Adventure Bushcrafts.
There will also be guided nature walk and talk on Saturday evening followed by music and songs around the campfire.
The Slieve Aughty centre has excellent facilities catering to all tastes including; Basic camping, Family Chalets, Quality ensuite Hotel rooms and a restaurant serving locally sourced organic fare.
Cost per course 130 euro adult (concessions available) 100 euro under 14s.
Bookings can be done online. Accommodation should be arranged separately with the Slieve Aughty Centre.
